WELCOME TO THE HOUSE GALLERY 

RULES OF THE HOUSE GALLERY

 

Thank you for your interest in observing the Georgia House of Representatives in action.  As a visitor in the gallery, you are guests of the House.  We require all of our guests to abide by the following Rules of Decorum.

1.    DISTURBANCES:  THE HOUSE GALLERY IS A PLACE FOR THE PUBLIC TO OBSERVE THE WORKINGS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.  NOISES SUCH AS SHOUTING, APPLAUSE, BOOS, HISSES, OR LOUD CONVERSATION, WHICH DISTURBS THE HOUSE ARE PROHIBITED (HEREINAFTER “PROHIBITED NOISES”).  DEMONSTRATIONS THAT PRODUCE PROHIBITED NOISES OR BLOCK THE VIEWS OF GUESTS OR PERSONNEL SHALL BE PROHIBITED.

 2.    SIGNS:  PLACARDS, DISPLAYS, BANNERS, AND SIGNS ARE PROHIBITED AND, WHEN FOUND, SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY REMOVED FROM THE GALLERY.

 3.    PHOTOGRAPHY:  NO VIDEO OR VOICE RECORDINGS ARE PERMITTED DURING ANY SPEECH OR LEGISLATIVE PROCEEDINGS. STILL PHOTOGRAPHY IS PERMITTED.

 4.    EXPRESSIVE CLOTHING:  NO ARTICLE OF CLOTHING (SHIRT, JACKET, SCARF, ETC.), BUTTONS, PINS, STICKERS, OR ANY OTHER ITEM INTENDED TO BE AFFIXED OR ATTACHED TO THE BODY (REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT IS AFFIXED AT THE TIME OF ENTRY) IS PERMITTED IF IT BEARS OR EXHIBITS ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:  OBSCENITY, PORNOGRAPHIC ACTS, FIGHTING WORDS, AND/OR THREATS.

 5.    HATS:  NO HATS ARE PERMITTED (except those worn for religious purposes). 

 6.    AUTHORIZATION TO ACT:  DOORKEEPERS ARE AUTHORIZED TO STOP OR PREVENT ANY CONDUCT THAT IS CREATING A DISTURBANCE IN THE HOUSE GALLERY OR CHAMBERS.
